We bought 10
acres from our grandparents in 1978, and began by planting raspberries.
About seven years later we bought 10 acres from the neighbors,
and started to diversify with other berries. Around 1987 we
bought the little house on the property, and remodeled it to
suit our
four children. Then in 1991 we started a little u-pick business
with the youngest girls. They helped people pick our berries,
and we had a picnic
table and tin can where they could pay in the back yard. We
started doing
this, as
people were knocking on our door and asking if there was anywhere
they could u-pick
berries. This beginning transformed into the farm we now have. 20
plus acres of different berries, all u-pick or we-pick. We have
a berry kitchen
on
the farm, where you can pick your own berries and make jam.
You can also
have a piece of fresh berry pie, or a berry smoothie. The farm
is run by our family, and also seasonal help. Recently, our
grand-children have been getting involved.
